We will be sunsetting CenteringCounts on December 31, 2022. This means that you will continue to have access to CenteringCounts until December 30, 2022, after that the system will be discontinued. Our new data reporting process will move away from collecting patient health information (PHI) and instead focus on understanding how many patients experience Centering care and how CHI can better support your success in sustaining/maintaining your Centering practice. We will keep you updated on the rollout of our new data reporting process in the next few weeks. Additional information about how data will be collected for Centering Accreditations and Annual Reports will also be shared this summer, before CenteringCounts is discontinued.
You may have further questions, and we hope you can find some answers to immediate concerns from the frequently asked questions and clarifications below.
What is going to replace CenteringCounts?
We will be piloting a leaner data collection process this summer. Going forward, CHI will be focusing on collecting fewer data points from Centering sites so we can more effectively track the reach of the Centering model and how well our sites are doing.
I currently use CenteringCounts for scheduling. How should I schedule going forward? How should I track attendance moving forward?
We will not be releasing a new group management/scheduling application, although we are working on developing other scheduling resources. Sites are highly encouraged to leverage reporting functions and tools available through their Electronic Medical Record system.)
I have an additional concern or question that is not listed here. Who can I speak with?

How will this affect my annual report?
How CHI collects and Centering practices report data will be changing, and our reporting processes will look different. By focusing on the number of patients served through Centering care and an understanding of how Centering’s essential elements support your care delivery, we aim to collaborate on ways to support Centering’s sustainability and increase access to Centering. To that end, the annual report submission process you may be familiar with through CenteringCounts will be ending. We will be piloting and sharing new data reporting methods (over the summer) to support a smooth transition.
How will this affect my upcoming Centering Accreditation?
Accreditations scheduled before December 30, 2022 will be using CenteringCounts data to complete their Accreditation Application. If you are scheduled for Centering Accreditation after December 31, 2022 CHI will be using the leaner data collection process to assist with collecting data points and your site will receive an updated Centering Accreditation application.
I don’t use CenteringCounts. Should I be concerned about this? How does this affect me if I don’t use CenteringCounts?
There is nothing you need to do now. Data collection will continue to be part of the Centering Master Site License agreement. To best identify how Centering is operating and ways to best support Centering practices, we will aim to have routine data touch points that are both easy for the site and enable CHI to better support your Centering work.
What information will be tracked? What is expected of me, the Centering site?
Data collection will focus on two categories: patient served" and "Centering processes. We’ll be looking for all Centering sites to report on some of this information regularly when we have opportunities to engage with you.
What if I have to give a funder health outcome data? What will I do? Will I lose my funding for Centering?
CHI is committed to supporting sites with their reporting obligations to funders. We will follow up with those affected by this at a later date with more information.
What is going to happen to the data that was collected in CenteringCounts?
All patient data entered into CenteringCounts will be destroyed when the server environment is retired later this year.
Can I download or receive my data that was in CenteringCounts?
Aggregate data can be exported to Excel from the reporting section of CenteringCounts. We’ve provided instructions here on how to access and export these reports.
